My name is Brenna Baffert.
My major is Recreation and Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Event Management.
My current profession is a server at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Here I have learned the art of communication and how to truly be hospitable towards people of all cultures I have never met before. My job has instilled in me patience, multi-tasking abilities, keen organization, and how to professionally help one with their needs. It keeps me entertained, which is why no matter how many times I have told myself to leave, I continue working here.
My career goal is to be a venue manager and to eventually to start my own wedding planning business and create a collaboration team of professionals in the industry.
My experiences in the field of Recreation and Leisure have included interning as a Project Manager and Wedding Coordinating Assistant with a local upscale wedding company, Carly Rae Weddings, based in Los Angeles, California, where I assisted with making over 30 gorgeous weddings come to life. I also have interned as an Event Manager with 31 Bits, a company located in Costa Mesa, CA, that partners with women in Uganda, Africa to help give them a sustainable life by purchasing their products at fair trade prices and selling them internationally. Their handmade jewelry is stunning and I am so passionate about their company as an entity. As 31 Bits Event Manager intern, I attended and represented the company at countless conferences and conventions where I promoted and sold the jewelry, as well as collaborated with a team of creatives to hold 3 large scale events open to the public in a 4 month time frame. Whether a large scale wedding or a conference, I am passionate about getting to know people and helping to make their dreams a reality.
My experiences with OUTDOOR recreation is quite vast as a lover of nature itself. Although I have not held positions in Outdoor Recreation, I love traveling and seeing the world for its beauty. My parents have blessed me with yearly vacations to Hawaii, Yosemite, Arizona, and beyond, and have instilled in me the appreciation for the beauty of our Earth.
3 OUTDOOR activities I enjoyed when I was a teenager/child include:
1. Kaanapali, Maui, Hawaii. For its tropical beauty, hiking the road to Hana, and exploring its ocean by surfing and snorkeling, it is one of my all time favorite places. My family travels to Kaanapali twice a year, and we have done so since I was six years old. My favorite place to spend quality time on Kaanapali Shore is at Black Rock. A beautiful place to snorkel, spot sea turtles, sun bathe, take advantage of the 5 star resorts swimming pools and amenities, and of course, jump off of Black Rock. An unstructured activity, my family and I have invested countless hours on this beach and every time I think of it, hundreds of happy memories flood my mind. Here I fell in love the vast ocean, warm breeze, and crystal clear ocean water. Not to mention, Parasailing is one of my favorite things to experience on the island. Cheaper than a helicopter ride, I soared 1,800 feet above the water. It was as if I was floating on the clouds. Honestly, it was one of the most relaxing, breath taking things I have done.

2. Camp Curry, Yosemite. As a little girl I went camping every year at Camp Curry with my family. The drive was long, but always worth it every second of it. Once arriving in Yosemite, you are surrounded by giant waterfalls and an overwhelming glorious smell of pine trees. Here, my parents taught me the art of camping, hiking, and instilled in me the love for wildlife, wildflowers, and peace in tranquility. Another unstructured activity, I would spend hours sitting in a field with my sisters, starring up at Half Dome, simply being in awe of its mass. My all time favorite memories growing up with my family are from Yosemite.

3. Grand Canyon, Arizona. I have only been to the Grand Canyon a handful of times, but its grand size clearly sticks out to me to this day. Photos can not do it justice, you have to visit the Grand Canyon to experience its scale. I visited the Grand Canyon with my mom and dad. Our tradition stood that we would drive in to the main entrance, where the giant sign stands, and hike along the railing to the least crowded portion to capture the best view. Although I have yet to hike the Grand Canyon itself, I hope to one day hike it rim to rim with my dad.

3 of my favorite OUTDOOR places are:
1. Lake Tahoe. For skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming, boating, and so much more, Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite places to visit year round. There are countless outdoor activities, structured and unstructured to participate in. My parents and I visit Lake Tahoe twice yearly, for the snow and summer seasons where we are able to see Lake Tahoe for its best qualities.

2. Sedona, Arizona. Sedona is hands down the most gorgeous place I have ever laid eyes on. With its rich, red-stained rocks, it looks like a master painting. The last time I was in Sedona, my parents and I had the incredible opportunity to invest in a Pink Jeep Tour that led us through the back side of the Broken Arrow Trial. Words can not describe it, so hopefully the photos will do it a little justice. Sedona is a great place to hike and find its hidden wildlife and plants along the way, which it has a vast amount of.

3. Avila Valley Barn, San Luis Obispo, California. Attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo my first 3 years of college, here I fell in love with green rolling hills and country side. Living in SLO, one of my favorite things to do each season was to gather all my friends and family when they visited, and trek to Avila Valley Barn. A family owned traditional barn, each season features a speciality on the farm. In Winter they sell Christmas trees, in Spring they grow giant stalks of corn, in Summer they grow gorgeous sunflowers, and in Fall they feature the cutest pumpkin patch I have ever been to. They also have a farm full of well kept, adorable farm animals. Needless to say, this is a place I dream about year round. I love SLO and hope to one day live here.
